The anime Hiatari Ryoko! Yume no Naka ni Kimi ga Ita movie was released 8 years after the manga Hiatari Ryoukou release. Mitsuru Adachi is known for Hiatari Ryoukou and such works as Katsu!. Mitsuru Adachi began working on it after finishing Katsu!. Kouhei Tanaka composed music for Hiatari Ryoko! Yume no Naka ni Kimi ga Ita movie. The anime is filmed as a comedy with slight romance, sports.

Gisaburo Sugii was the Hiatari Ryoko TV director who relied on Hiatari Ryoukou by Mitsuru Adachi. Mitsuru Adachi began working on it after finishing Katsu! and Rainbow-colored Chilli. Hiroaki Serizawa wrote a soundtrack for the anime. 48 series were released all in all, each lasting for 30 minutes. Like the manga, the anime is filmed as a comedy.
